What we've been doing
3.2010

Diane went to Washington for Tyler's 3rd birthday. She had a great time even though it was only for a long week end.

We got our garden in on time (first time since we've lived here) and are hoping that God will bless it this year. We did pretty good last year except the birds ate all our tomatoes and peaches, and the rabbits ate the corn just as it was coming up. We expanded it this year to include a potato patch (had to dig down about tens inches and raise the bed about eight). We filled it with compost so the potatoes can grow. The ground here is pretty hard and not very good for gardening. We have put a lot of compost and manure in it over the last couple of years trying to make it better. We hope this is the year of our "bumper crop". We got 5 more chickens around the first of the year which have grown a lot but no eggs yet. The Wagoner farm is growing hopefully in more than size.

This Christmas we went to Washington to celebrate it with our kids. They rented a cabin in Leavenworth. The grandkids had a great time playing in the snow with their dad ( Video clip 1, Video clip 2 ).

It was very pretty and peaceful. On the second day just before lunch time our grandkids were upstairs. The cabin had the attic built in so the window sills are only about a foot and a half or two feet off the floor. Our granddaughter (she’s 8) open one of the windows. Our grandson (he’s almost 3) heard his dad outside and wanted to say hi to him. Well, with the window open the only thing between him and the outside was the screen. Needless to say he pressed against the screen and fell head first out the open window. My son said he heard him, turned and saw him headed for the ground head first. He was too far away to get to him in time to catch him or break his fall. Here’s the God gets the glory part. Josh said that he saw him falling head first for the ground “and all I could think of is I’m watching my son die and I can’t get to him”. But just before Tyler hit the ground “he turned over and landed on his back”. Tyler’s Nana and Papa (that’s Diane and me) believe that God had His angel gently turn Tyler over so he would land on his back and miss the railing to the steps and the banister of the porch (he landed within a few inches of all of those). We took him to the ER and they did a CAT scan and Xrays of his back and found nothing wrong. The only thing that happen to him was he bit his lip a little. You can see in this picture the window he fell out of (the left side) and he landed on the ground right in the corner by the steps and porch.
